Hello,
I am unfortunately not a sewer or a quilter, even though the three prior lady generations were ALL amazingly talented, I kinda got left out of that talent. But even though, I still managed to acquire a mountain of their possessions over time in my garage.

I've recently been trying to make my way through these items, and have came across a couple of sewing machines and a quilt stand. I was able to get one of the sewing machines out in an attempt to identify it, and have done research online, but not able find conclusive details about the machine.

I'm hoping someone here might be able to provide me info, or guide me as to where I need to look to find out more information. Ultimately, I'm hoping to eventually find a new home for this piece, as much as I think it is beautiful, I know it will be nothing more than a conversation piece, and needs to be more appreciated than that!

While I actually know very little about machines this old, the irons look just like my New Home. Your machine and cabinet are different but the irons are the same. It was very common for manufacturers to build machines given many different names. I agree with you that this machine deserves to be more than a conversation piece.

Thanks for the response Cari-in-Oly! Within the ISMACS Needle List, there is a listing for three different manufacturers under the model Jewell; they include Davis, Mason, and New Home. None on this particular reference list a Jewell-A. And there are some under MASON possible, that have the Jewel model (with only one L).

Is there a specific location on your New Home machine that has a manufacturing stamp or badge? I'm wondering maybe since the irons are the same, I'm overlooking something clearly marked.

That machine is made by Free - the "New Royal" Class (so not at all like other Free machines).

It takes shuttles and needles and accessories that are specific to this class. They are easy enough to get on eBay because they were not common so most BOYE cases still had lots of them.

The serial number should be located on the base, behind the pillar. I have two, but they are older and have the top tension instead of the front tension.
