Default My $5.00 Edison E sewing machine

This is a sewing machine, I bought yesterday for $5.00 at a yard sale. Dont really know why I bought it. Dont have much info. So maybe you's can help me. It runs, but a little nosey. Dont know the year. All I know is the motor has Edison E. What is the singer web sight for parts, or to search more info on this machine. I know this machine, will need a motor belt.

Can't lose for paying $5. Good luck with getting it turned up and oiled.

Looks like a Singer 99 clone, made for Mercury/store/company, etc. Go to the Japanese Clone Site. Do not remember the address on line, but a search will pull it up.

PS, look up the number under the Mercury emblem on the Singer site.

I thought it might be a Singer 15 clone, since the tensioner is on the side. What kind of rotary bobbin does it have--drop in like the 66 or type 15?

Looks like a Mercury logo to me too. Singer 15 clone. Should use standard needles and 15 class bobbins. You did well at $5.
Most 15 clones are nice machines.

I spent some quality time with that machine's twin today. The decals rubbed off on the arm on mine. It seems lighter weight than some of my other clones. It seems to be made of iron - magnet sticks to it though. Mine needed a new tension spring. Of course the wiring is shot. Mine was frozen up and would not turn. Tri-flow eventually got into all the dried up cracks and moving parts. There was a lot of rubber stuff on the back side and all over the bobbin winder. Bug and Tar cleaner got it off eventually. The machine cleaned up ok but it took a long time. Now that it turns it seems to be a decent machine.
