Smile My Best Purchases To Date

For my birthday which is tomorrow I was able to find a very reasonably priced white featherweight which I have been actively searching for. With my wonderful hubby's birthday present blessings I also paired it up with a brand new Juki Pearl MO-654DE. I have never used a serger before and I haven't a clue how to use it but I want to make drapes for the whole house so I figure it is a great start. I will find a class to take first so I don't mess up too badly on my first project.

I was striking out all over the place trying to bid on the white featherweights on ebay and I also was quickly shot down on the 'make offers'. I was getting a little discouraged, well that's not true. Actually I was getting a LOT discouraged. I forgot I had made an offer on one that had free shipping the day before but I hadn't heard back so I thought he didn't like my offer either, but he did! He accepted my offer!!! WOO HOO. This is his picture of the machine I won, and a stock picture of the Juki. The FW doesn't come with much, just the case, controller, bobbin case and one bobbin. For the price though I am totally okay with that and will purchase the other items I need for it. Soooo

I am pretty much done buying sewing machines. I do need some better cabinets and some cases so will still be searching for those and the ever desirable Penguin foot, accessories and things of that nature to put them all together and make whole so I can rehome them. The only machine I would put on my list now would be a Cinderella and I do love some of the older little ones I have seen here with the cute little feet on them. But for now I am very happy with my current collection and now I need to start quilting and sewing again. I will probably be spending more time in the quilting sections now..hehe

That FW looks great to me. After you clean it up to your standards, you will be so proud of her...Now she needs a name. Enjoy.

If you are going to make drapes for the whole house, then maybe you should look for a used Blind hemmer. I'd love to get one, but really don't have a need and I'm not making drapes any time soon.

Hope you have a happy birthday! The White FW is such a sweetheart.

I got the 8 pack of extra feet and I believe the blind hemmer foot is included but I will check it out when it arrives. Thanks for mentioning it I appreciate it.

I think Pearl is a nice name. My new serger is a Juki Pearl so I decided to call her Pearl....Hope you get to adopt a FW soon.

I have decided to name my new girl Gwyn. ( Gwyndolyn)

It is Welsh and means white or fair.
