Default Need Advice On Singer Serial Number AC677759

Needs new wiring, sews with knee control, no attachments but case in good condition. Can get for $50. Is that a good price. Has presser foot, bobbin case and bobbin...it's a drop in....runs quiet but doesn't pick up the bobbin thread.

I can't say anything about the price - that just depends on is it worth it to you? But it sounds like either the bobbin case was put in wrong and needs to be taken out and check to make sure with the manual that it is put in properly and then make sure it is threaded correctly. I don't have a drop in bobbin in any of my Singers but my other machines that do have drop in you have to loop the thread in it appropriately. Also, when threading the needle are you doing it the right direction? Some machines have the eye of the needle in the front, but the Singers usually thread from right to left.

The needle may not be inserted or threaded correctly. The flat side of the needle goes to the right, and the needle threads left to right on that model.

The price sounds good to me (at least in my area). The knee bars by themselves usually sell for over $30, and your controller works to boot.

Darling SIL paid $100 in PHX, so $50 sounds good. Like CD says, those knee bars are expensive. reproduction knee bars are $38 + SH on Ebay.

It is a model 99 made in 1929. They are good little machines. Please leave the little red piece of felt in place. It is to oil the hook.
As for not picking up bobbin thread, check needle position.

I would be tempted in my area at $50. Ebay prices for the case and knee controller are over $50 for both items.

It is made in 1929 and make sure the needle is threaded from the right to the left and it will pick up the bobbin thread unless there is another problem. You also may have a piece of thread in the bobbin area. Do you have a manual? I lucked up a found a featherweight that looked brand new and I love it. I have the manual if you need
help with the threading or anything. I have 20 machines and this is the only one that threads the needle from right to left. Let me know if I can help ........... Hilda

If it's a 99, it threads from left to right.

LilaKay, if you do that it definitely won't pick up the bobbin thread.

CD and path49 are correct, model 99s all thread left to right.
