Default Is Motor Still Good

My DH and I were working on the motor from my Morse Deluxe 200. Some of the wires leading into the motor were exposed so I thought we would take the motor apart and put in new wires. Well, when I opened up the motor I could see pretty quickly that I could not rewire it so I thought I had put it back together correctly. My DH then put some kind liquid tape on the wires. When we plugged it into the motor/light block it tripped the braker and burned out the foot pedal. Then he took the motor apart and turned it around. When we then plugged the motor into the light socket, the motor ran. Do you think the motor is OK?

More than likely, but when it shorted out it's because of a bare wire made contact where it shouldn't. Until it's rewired, I would not use that motor. Something's just not right inside it.

Why could you not rewire it?
