Guess I'll ding my baby up, throw a little of that funky paint at her, and put her on ebay for oh, say, ??$3,000?? Unbelievable!

If you ever apply "rare" to sewing machines that one actually kind of qualifies. I don't like the finish myself though.

This fw auction takes the cake for me. A repainted red one for over 3k. When another sold 5 days earlier for under 900. And you can get one custom done by a pro for 800.

I could never understand the bidding on Ebay. Used to be so simple, and honestly, much cheaper. I try to figure out the bidders. I notice the private bidders bids posted a few times in a row outbidding themselves, as well as other bidders bidding several times, also posted a few times in a row outbidding themselves. I think there are phantom bidders out there to bring up the bids. Not saying this is true in any case, but I am entitled to my opinion until proven otherwise. Unless this is made of real gold beneath the black paint I cannot see this being worth that much. But then, I know very very little about vintage machines. As you said, 'Oh For Pete's Sake' and I say 'Oh For Crying Out Loud'!!

The people who appear to be bidding against themselves aren't. Bidder 1 puts in a max bid of 100, but currently the bid is only at 50. Bidder 2 puts in 60 and is outbid. Puts 70 and outbid. 80 outbid. 90 outbid. 100 outbid. 101 is new bid and they are the current high. It looks like they've increased the price on themselves but they haven't. They just bid in increments until they are the high bidder.

Would never pay that much for a machine like that. They must have been smoking something when they bid. HaHa!

Had no idea that they made a FW in a Godzilla finish. Kind of interesting, but not THAT interesting. I like a Godzilla finish, think they are kind of cool, but would never pay anything like that for one.

My gosh that is unbelievable Miss Kira!
Now if only a couple of buyers would get in an insane bidding war whenever we list things for auction!
The Kitchenaid mixer we bought our daughter when she got her masters is that candy apple red color and it is beautiful. Seems to me you could get your car repainted in that color for less money!

Im not sure which you are referring to, but the Godzilla finish is original... It did come like that. They only made a very small amount like that and no one is really sure why. The kandy apple red one they do say was painted by a Harley guy. Crazy prices sure, but it only takes two people with money who want something to create a bidding war like that.
