Wonder if is rusted on. Taking the screw out normally gets them off. Maybe a little spray. Evaporust does the trick. I haven't used it yet but I'm sure I eventually will.

Bezzer, if you look at the bottom of the shaft you will see a little lip. That is what is preventing the needle clamp from coming off the bar. I can turn the clamp screw all the way except fully out. I will take a pic of the curly q thingys on the clamp. It sort of looks like they may come out to release the clamp but don't want to force them and break something.

FYI, OSMG says he has the Morse ZZ plates we need. I will be picking them up for sure on Monday.

A different view of the needle clamp with the curly q thingys. If I can't remove it I will likely put some Evaporust in a jar and fit it under and up over the needle clamp assembly.

Thinking I will go for the Evapo in the jar first. Will be visiting the OSMG tomorrow and ask him. He might know.

Dumb question but have you removed the needle clamp screw and then tried to remove the part?

I also like the Evapo-Rust in the jar idea.

The needle clamp screw will not back all the way out. So, the whole thing is now sitting in the Evapo jar. The next adventure is the tension assembly. I should just leave it alone, but can't. What do you think? Should I go for it?
