Question Please tell me I didn't pay too much...

I hemmed and hawed, but my DH really wanted to buy it, so we did. The shop was asking $625 but we talked her down to $525. In my defense, I will say it's harder to find older machines in the southern half of Florida. Most people get rid of this stuff before they move down here. So, for my money, this is what I have:
1957 FW with all attachments nice & clean
buttonhole attachment
zigzag attachment
spare bulb, original needles
clean (non-stinky) box

and what did for my hubby,

a beautiful card table!

I know if I lived up north and waited, I could have found a better deal. But is this awful?

if it is worth it to you- you did not pay too much.
value is often a personal thing- some people would never pay that much- others would be willing to pay more-
it all depends on what it is worth to you- and it sounds as if you are happy with the machine- and could afford it- so that makes it a good deal

It's certainly not awful--while you might pay less getting one from a seller online, the maintenance you'd have to do would quickly put it up near to what you paid, especially if you went with one of the really cheap ones you can find. And I agree with what ckcowl said. If it's worth it to you, it's worth the price. Congrats on joining the club! Just make sure the flat side of the needle goes to the left.

I would not have paid that much, but I agree with what the others said! If you're happy, and it sounds like you are, then it wasn't too much!! Have fun, and post a pic when you can!

The card tables are not cheap and can be hard to find. Life is short. If you wanted it, it was in good condition and you can afford it, then ENJOY it!!

I agree with the above!! Don't let what you paid get in the way of your enjoyment. I live in an area where FW's seem to be more costly than other parts of the country, especially if it is in good shape (I see them posted for $400 to $500 and even higher! I say DH was in support, you love the machine, it has been bought and paid for - lay that aside and just enjoy it!!

Congratulations on your little Featherweight and also the table. You got a lot of good attachments with it too. Those tables aren't cheap from what I've heard. I'd like to come across one at a reasonable price. Enjoy your machine. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything!! Do you have a name for her yet?

If you figure that table might run $150 or so, the collection of attachments might run another $50 or $75 or so depending on where you go, I think you did just fine even for around here.
