This machine is not in my time frame but for $25 I just could not say no...

I cleaned the dirt off, a quick wipe down with oil, that's it.

The decals are lovely! May I recomend Mother's Chrome Polish (available in the Auto Dept. at Walmart) to shine up the chrome parts. She's a real beauty!

I have in fact used Mother polish before, good stuff.

In this case I think it is a bit far gone for cleaner. (but I may do a test bit...hmmmm)

I currently plan to begin by taking them off, soft wirewheeling the rust, and then polishing them on my bench buffer.

it's funny how these start looking so "modern" when you spent the last few weeks on 1870's machines.

Your machine is really pretty. the decals are so nice. I understand why you couldn't say no. Their innards look bare don't they?

Central Ohio Quilter 02-05-2013 07:29 PM

A little elbow grease... two clean slides and needle plate.

Still need work and polishing, but they are clean now and a serial number is visible.

What a beautiful machine.

Nice cleanup on the chrome. I love how the whole pillar can be exposed for cleaning as well ... that's a bonus!

Funny you should say that... Heather's comment was that this machine reminded her of a little old lady dressed up for a night out on the town...

The pictures do not do it justice. the tri-colored leaves look exactly like the three colors of black hills gold...

She is REALLY stiff in the joints, but she's already had her first dose of sewing machine glucosamine (tri-flo) and is already moving better. I am being VERY gentle with that cause I can still feel a "limp" in her walk. and I want to see what is gummed up.

I have spent the last few days with a Wheeler and Wilson #8 dismantled on my kitchen table because All of my efforts (and Heathers) have been focused on getting my friends new armor and padding built and adjusted for US National tryouts this weekend. We are DONE with that finally, so the sewing machines can get back to being loved on. After the #8 is reassembled, this little lady will be getting a "spa" day.

georgeous machine! (oops! I think I forgot how to spell) I would not have passed up the machine either - even though I have numerous vintage machines already and absolutely do not need any more. Great find - have fun with it

ro 02-06-2013 02:26 PM

tenngal 02-06-2013 03:08 PM

QuiltMom2 02-06-2013 06:00 PM

At last!! Someone posted a picture of a bobbin like the one that was in my grandmother's machine. I was beginning to think my memory was playing tricks on me!! Gorgeous machine, by the way.

That one is too pretty to pass up. The decals are gorgeous! Great score!

QuiltFaerie 02-11-2013 06:36 PM

It is a really beautiful find. How sad that something so beautiful was only valued at $25. A great find for you though. I just love all the beautiful decals from that time period.

Christine- 03-19-2013 07:26 PM

Wow, and it came with a nice shuttle. Good find!
