I am a new owner - just purchased today.

Where can I find the Singer Motor Lubricant

Congrats fellow NH quilter and Featherweight owner! If you cant' find Singer oil, ask around at the local quilt shops what they carry (Nashua Sew 'n Vac, The Bunkhouse, etc.) as they may have an idea. Also, Singer.com may sell directly. You can also "date" your machine through Singer. They will tell you date it was manufactured and where. Do you belong to a local guild? Just curious. I will be a member of Bedford Friends next year.

I found some in the notions section at my fabric shop. (Hancock's Fabric) Make sure you get the tube for motor lubricant and don't use the oil which is clear and in a bottle with a dispenser.

Have you looked on e-bay? I have seen them on there.

I have three Singer Featherweight machines, the oldest dating from 1934. They require regular lubrication. You can find a diagram on the internet as to where to oil your machine. It requires that the bottom be taken off to reach some of the spots. With regular maintenance all of mine run like a dream and I use them a lot to sew. The original owners of two of them were each of my husband's grandmothers and the third one I found at a resale shop buried under other stuff in a back corner. Was I ever excited over that and it is the 1934 one.

I had ordered mine on line thru Ebay, then found the oil (which I knew they had) and the lubricant (didn't know they had) at Hancocks, live and learn. Can't remember whether they have the bobbins tho, bought lots of them on Ebay, look thru that section because some sell high compared to others.

There are more than one type of case and I have seen at least 3 different types of keys depending upon the case. Could you email me a picture of your case and I can email you a picture of the type of key that you need? PM me at [email protected].

Lubricant and oil are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Make sure you use the correct item in the correct place. Lubricant goes in the motor and on gears. Oil goes on all the other places. Get a manual and look at the pictures to see where the oil goes, lubricant has 2 places in the motor.
