1950's Kenmore Machine Model 120-04
 

I have an old Kenmore Machine model number 120-04 that belonged to my aunt. I went on line to see if we could figure out how old it was and I found a website indicating model 120 machines were made in the 1950's. We are going to repurpose the cabinet it came in by putting in a lift for my new machine. In your opinion, would anyone be interested in rescuing it without having the cabinet with it? It has not been used for a long time. I don't have the owner's manual or any accessories. It still has a needle and bobbin in it and the one foot.

I'm sure there are a couple other's here besides me that don't know what a Kenmore 120-04 looks like. Could you post a good pic or two of it?

I'm thinking it is one of the godzilla machines that looks like a blender - they haven't caught on around here.

I also have a Kenmore machine that I bought at a garage sale that was my aunts. Bought it thinking my daughter might want to sew with it......NOT...she used it for a desk to do her scrap booking. The cabinet got water damaged but everything else looks good yet. I have no idea if it still works but I do want to clean it up and see if it'll work. The machine is over 50 yrs. old. My aunt died at age 93 I think about 8, 9 or 10 years ago......

It will be like any other old machine. Clean out lint. Clean the surface. Clean off rust. Clean off dried up oil. Re-oil and see what else it needs. Usually have to adjust the tensions. Look for a manual somewhere on line. Some machines are more intuitive than others. I think I have at least 6 godzilla type machines all in need of TLC. If I knew I could get the picture thing to work on here I'd do a tutorial on them. I'm not wild about any of them though.

I have 5 or 6 of the Godzilla finish machines. I like 'em. Why ..... cos they are so ugly you just can't hurt the finish with use. And, well, they sew reallly good too.


As for the Kenmore in the damaged cabinet ..... ^^^^ what Miriam said.
