2 machines at the auction this coming wknd.

I am going to an auction this wknd, lots of really good old collectibles (granite ware, crocks etc) including these 2 sewing machines.

...I have absolutely fallen in love with the blue and yellow machine in pic 1 - hope it looks as good IRL as it does in the photo!

...can anyone tell from the 2nd pic what the black Singer is, I am too new at this to be able to tell models just by looking at them.

Thanks for looking!

Joann

That black one may be a 99 in a cabinet...which is hard to find. But can't be sure because I don't know the size of the box sitting on it's bed. If it's a standard attachments box, then I would guess it's a 99.

Couldn't see much of the blue/yellow machine in the pic, but it looks interesting and I would like to see more of it. Hope you got one or the other.

The black one looks like a 201-3, but am not 100% sure (can't see the motor). The tuquoise box is a buttonhole attachment for low shank machines (or should be-that is what came in those boxes).

Can't tell what the blue and yellow machine is but think it is a 50's or 60's japan-made machine. Probably very strong machine, if it is in good condition.

Sorry guys, didn't notice that the uploader chopped the right side off of the first photo...let me try again!

...and per your suggestions I looked up the 99's and 201's - it has a stitch regulator like the 201 series - found this link on sew-classic for a 201-2
http://blog.sew-classic.com/2008/11/...ne-review.aspx

Pat - you can see the motor...look at the reflection in the mirror behind the machine! LOL
....I know, I know, it still isn't clear enough! guess I will just have to wait until Saturday!

I will have to have a discussion with the photographer on Saturday and tell him how to take a good decisive pic of these machines for their advertising :-)

sewing machines usually go anywhere from $15-40, except for FW's the last one of those went for $90.00 so I hope I can pick one of them up (probably the purdy japanese one)

Singer 15-01 the 201 would have the light up front. If it is a 201 I would go as high as $100 or higher as they are worth more. The 201 has a alrger throat opening. I have both. The other I don't know but I would think the blue one $20-50 if it runs and if the case is in good shape maybe more. The Singer 15-91 $45-125 if it works. This is based on what I find on Craigslist.

My guess was also going to be a 201 series machine (but I am also a newbie at this). You can also see the round inspection plate in that mirror! Plus it looks like it has the flat top under the spool. http://vssmb.blogspot.com/2011/07/vi...ingers_30.html

Both look nice. Good luck!! :o

Going to this website: http://www.sandman-collectibles.com/...r-machines.htm

and putting in the info as can been seen in the auction photo with only two assumptions (a rectangular slide plate*, and flat face plate*) it would be a 99.

* These two items can't be seen very well in the photo.

that's a great info blog Dawn...adding it to my bookmarks - and I guess it isn't a 201-2 as there isn't a light switch visible
