222K crooked presser foot on feed dogs

My 222K sews like a dream, however I am a picky person and I need advice as to how to solve this problem.
When I put the presser foot down and start sewing 2 things bug me.
1. The back end of the presser foot does not align with the front of the end on the feed dogs. It is probably about 1/ 32 of an inch off in the back.
2. Thus when I am sewing the machine does not sew as straight a line without my having to guide the fabric through. I just tried a 4 1/2 inch seam without guiding with my hand. At the end of that 4 1/2 inches, the seamed veered to the left 1 3/4 inches. ( Just like driving a car when the front end is out of alignment).
3. What do I do to correct the problem? My 201 and 403 sew very straight lines, however the 222 is my first choice of piecing.
Thanks, Libby

It sounds as though the presser foot bar has been twisted just slightly out of whack. If so, some wiggling and jiggling should get it back on track, although I don't have any ideas on how to wiggle and juggle it. But wow, would that be frustrating!

I agree with Karen that it sounds like the pressure foot bar is twisted just a bit. Take the face plate off and you should see a screw that you can loosen slightly just so you can twist it to align with the feed dogs.

Good luck.

Make sure the presser foot bar is down when you do that.

I always guide my fabric through when machine sewing. Unless you have the 1/4 foot with a seam guide on the side I don't see how you would sew without guiding the fabric. Maybe I'm missing something?

That was my first thought also....cannot imagine sewing without guiding the fabric....but i have background in sewing garments and tailoring so maybe I am missing something.
