WOW this singer sure looks different. anyone have any ideas what "special variation" it would be used for?

Just as a guess I'd say by the attachment on the bet it's for putting bindings on. Just a guess. I wouldn't mind having it.

On ISMACS, Singer made these to do a wide range of things - though this particular variation is not listed, they have several that are for plaiting, tucking and ruffling, and many state that there is an automatic tensioner for the fabric. Figure that is what the drum on the base is for - somehow controlling the fabric as it's tucked, ruffled or plaited. Sure would be neat to get it and figure out exactly what it does!
