Is this a 27?

I just got this old girl. Singer said it was a 27 but their book on 27/28 shows a high mounted bobbin winder. If it is a 27 is it a 27-something???? Hope some of you folks can give me some help. May take me a little while to get it clean! Spins over nicely already! Ethel

Ethel,

The 27 has the bobbin winder mounted low, the 127 has it mounted high.
There might be other small differences too, but that's how I tell the difference between them.

This is a 127 ( my machine ):

Notice the position of the bobbin winder.

The 28 / 128 is the same, but smaller. It's a 3/4 size machine.

Thanks Joe. I have a portable 128. I call her Florence. Was just wondering if the 27 is just 27 or is it a 27-2 or 3 or 4. How do you tell? I did post again with a picture.
