Saved another machine from the trash...99K, I think. Was told it did not work. Cleaned, oiled and replaced a bent needle. It would not pick up the bobbin thread. Found a straight pin jammed in the bobbin case area. It sews just fine now.

What a great find!

Did some online research. According to the serial number AB661652, it is a model 99 made June 15, 1927 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I particularly like the knee controller instead of a foot pedal.

It looks exactly like my 99K, except for the plug, wiring and knee lever is slighly different. The early ones I have seen are like your, and it looks like the other type knee lever appeared shortly after 1930. Mine is 1934.

Interesting in that DH and I picked up a near pristine late model 99. When DH serviced it he found a rusted bent up pin in the bobbin race area. Once removed it worked great. Based on the condition of the machine, we figure this happened very early on in the machine's life, and it got stuck in a closet and forgotten about for the next 60 years.

Lucky you all. Doesn't it make you wonder why some people don't look inside parts of their sewing machines. I had one and gave it to my 30yr. grandson. It got me addicted to buying old machines and working on them. Now that I'm 89, I
have kind of quit doing that.ha.

I am catching the machine collecting bug! I have 8 toy machines..6 are Singers, 2 Featherweights, a small Janome, a Viking sapphire and a Bernina. It is so exciting to find another one. I still really envy Edseljeff. I am searching for a Featherweight table!
