I got this Singer I am not sure if this is a good one Can you help me and give me some info?
The model # is NL-K1255074. i can't put a picture on so guess any info would be helpful

Modern 'Nostalgia' Model 15’s[/h]From the mid 1970’s what are often referred to as ‘Nostalgia’ model 15’s were made in Taiwan and then later in China. These were made to the same design as earlier machines with the traditional black cast iron bodies and with the RAF or Sphinx decals etc. They were even supplied in the old style bentwood cases or treadle tables.
The machines built at the Singer factory in Taiwan were identified by the model No. 15NL, whilst the Chinese ones are model 15CH. Although these machine look like the originals, there are subtle differences and they have a poor reputation of being lower quality machines that tend to be very noisy in use.

Interesting info Steve. You are a good researcher. I saw this posting earlier and was confused about the serial number so didn't leave a comment. I learn something new here every day!

Thank you Steve for the info- it is 15 NL I have sewed on it and it is noisy but the stitches are nice .It also has a wood case a strange shape I can buy it for $40.00 I really don't need it as I have a featherweight ,bernina and a viking but you know how it is .Now if it was you would you get it or wait for something better? Just asking as I am new to this Thanks Again

This isn't always the case but "generally" a good oiling will quiet a machine down.

Here is an example. I just serviced a Singer 328K. It's a mid 60s ZZ machine that uses cams. According to members of QB that know more than I do the mechanical design is poorly executed so the machine is noisier than it should be.
At any rate once cleaned and oiled the machine went from noisy like a thrashing machine to a bit noisier than a normal machine. A complete 180º turn around.

I'd give it a chance if you want it and it would add to your collection in some way.

You are welcome, and I am the wrong person to ask for this question. I only collect 1901 and earlier machines, but my attitude towards modern manufacturing is such that "I" would not see myself buying one of these if I did collect more modern machines.

I like your handle! Lilacs are my favorite early spring flower.

I personally wouldn't buy a made in Taiwan/China simulacrum of a vintage Singer sewing machine.

Does anyone have a manual for this machine. I just got a 15NL and the previous owner (unknown) took the shuttlecock and feed dogs apart for cleaning, I guess. Is there another model number that would work instead? contact me at [email protected] Thanks
