Adjusting needle position 1934 Singer 99K
Hi, I am hoping that someone can help me, please. I have a rescued Singer 99K that has been wearing needles in an odd way. Upon further examining, I realized that the needle is not _quite_ centered to the single stitch hole in the needle plate. How do I adjust this, please?
Thank you! |
It is possible there is gunk in the needle holder, but also it depends on the size of the needle. I'm not sure I understand http://www.melco-service.com/source1...rientation.htm but https://singer-featherweight.com/blo...he-needle-hole explains why not completely centered.

This was very interesting reading. Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking at this point that I may just have to let Bob (my sewing machine mechanic) sort this one out.

A picture would help. This is certainly something you can address yourself.
T to confuse you, but I am not quite sure I understand the Featherweight shop explanation. I thought the needle size did actually increase, not just appeared to increases. |
There is a diagram for "to check the position of the needle in relation to straight-stitching throat plate" for a 401 at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/36...page=22#manual you can see the relationship of the various size needles to the hole. If you rotate the diagram 90 degrees counterclockwise that would show how it should be for the 99.
