Here are the pictures for the cabinet and Kenmore machine 158.1410 The machine does run just needs to be cleaned up. Remember I only paid 5.99 Is this a good machine?

I just managed to freeze one of those in straight stitch mode. I don't know why. You might like to give anything that moves right now a shot of Tri-flow. I'm thinking mine was run after setting a long time.

If you do not have a machine specific owners manual, buy one, download one, beg or borrow one. The controls on those machines, while not overly complicated, are function specific. To use the machine correctly you do need the manual. With it, it will amaze you with what it can do.

If you want to back stitch you can just flip that little lever at the top! Neat feature.

I love that cabinet!

I have one very similar to this in the same cabinet. There was a half a spool of thread around one of the inside gears. Works great now.

I need CAM's for mine. It came with none.

I like the Kenmores- sturdy and dependable. Backstitch is the small lever on the right between the length and width dials. Nice cabinet, and a Great find! For those that use cams they are usually cheap on EBay.

you got a great deal---Kenmores from that era last forever--clean it, oil it and get the manual and enjoy. As for the cabinet, get a bottle of Old English scratch remover. Using a soft cloth, apply all over the wood. Then using a clean cloth, wipe down completely and let set for a couple of days. Then wipe down again to get any leftover residue. The scratches will disappear and the wood will love the treatment. It works great.
