Yep, temptation got the best of me:

It's gotten to the point that I can't scroll past a 201-2 CL listing under $100 w/out stopping. And drooling. Now I have three: Centennial in a table, non-Centennial in a #42, and now a Centennial in a bentwood (and the base needs 2 pieces -- another project, heave big sigh).

As for the tools, I've wanted a heat gun for a while. Great for lots of things and this one is for light-duty home projects, just what I need. Looks like it's been used once, maybe twice. And the Ideal Stripmaster!! I've wanted one of these for a while and kept looking for good used ones on CL and eBay but they're always almost the price of new ones ($40 - $50). The gun and Stripmaster were $15 for both! Now I can prep my 18 gauge wire quickly, easily, and perfectly! Perfect for re-wiring about 6 or 7 machines in my herd.

I'm glad you got ahead of me - so I didn't have to get it. I wrote 3 hrs after the listing was posted. I already have a 201, but like you say, it was too good a deal to ignore. Congrats!

ps. I'm new here but have been following this forum since I bought a cute little Bel Air a few weeks ago. A thrift store find, also irresistible.

Thank you and I hope you're not bummed -- I responded 18 minutes after she posted and I remember thinking how lucky I was that I happened to be trolling at the right time -- I guess so. But I have to promise myself this is the last one so all other 201s are YOURS. I won't be buying them. Honest.

Bel Air + thrift store is a sure-fire combination. I'd have hauled that baby home, too. :)

Ooooh very nice! I love the 201's too. I really need to put in some garage time and get them running!

OTOH, I couldn't pass up a 15.00 Kenmore today. It's a nice model 85 in a box case. :)

That is some nice stuff! My husband has a soft spot of 201's - and that wire stripper looks really nice!

That is the reason I have not been visiting GW and CL, no room unless I started hanging sewing machines from the ceiling!

I hadn't thought of that...

Sounds like it was a great price. Great score at any price really. A 201 in a bentwood case would be very nice to have.

Nice find. I'm not a Singer gal but my 201-2 is among my favorite machines. Especially since I finally got her into a cabinet with a knee lever.

I could've gotten up early and gone to an estate sale this past Thursday but needed the bucks for Christmas. They had a FW with all attachments for $300.00. Found out who bought it and little irritating but I may have done the same thing if it weren't a money issue. The guy who bought it contacted the website and asked if they would check with the heirs and sell it to him for $400.00. They did. Who wouldn't. His DGD has been wanting one. FW are just too pricey around here. Not in a guild or anything so no need to get a smaller lighter weight.
