My daughter found this in her Dad's house when he passed away.I worked on it and now it sews like a new machine. My first time with a shuttle, way cool. When I turned my red eye into a hand crank my 7 yr old grandson loved it.So I am gonna turn it into a hand crank for him and make it a walnut base--gonna surprise him at Christmas. The bonus is I need the foot pedal from this one for another machine--score.It looks rough but sews so great.

Sweet! Your GS will love it I'm sure! I'm working on rigging my Singer 27 for a hand crank. Part of that is figuring out a decent system for winding bobbins. I'll post pictures when I get the details worked out.

for bobbins, you can do what some of the Nationals do. They have a coil spring "cord" that goes around the belt groove to the bobbin winder, and you only put it on for that use.

This thread has some pictures of it - for the singer, you'd use the belt groove on the flywheel, but hopefully this will give you a general idea what I'm referring to.

I have a belt off of another machine that fits around the handwheel and and the bobbin winder.I am not sure if it will fit around the hand crank to put it on and take it off though.
