This big Singer is at my local thrift store and i just can't imagine what it was for. The table it is on is fairly large and it is a treadle. |
here is the link for the ISMACS singer model listing for models 1-99
http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...sses-1-99.html model 78-3 says "Walking Foot - One Needle. Max. speed 1600 spm. For lightweight work in imitation leather; upholstery. Automobile tops. Combined upper and needle feed. No under feed." and it uses needles "16x99; 16x100; 16x198" |
Singer's version of Davis Vertical Feed so it should be a good binder and non FMQuilter as well a work described above.

I've not seen one but years ago someone recommended that I get one to sew on canvas - that or a walking foot. I ended up finding a walking foot.

Thanks Steve, The list of industrial machines is amazing. I got caught up reading it. I really don't need one even though it is under 50.00.

you are welcome. I am lucky that it was made after 1901..... (off my radar)

I love the bookbinder! That's awesome. Industrial machines make me swoon though I have virtually no practical use for any of them, just think of the things you could do! Insert SO's eyeroll >here<.

I know a book binder in LA that uses a Early Patcher as a book binding tool. Having it on display in the front has been the beginning of many new customer relationships...
