How about installing a metal cookie sheet on the side......saw a similar idea where they used it with magnets to hold papers and things????

I was thinking everyone uses those felt pad circles under their thread. I have a slew of them somewhere!

How about making a small bobbin/spool holder using wooden dowels that are cut to your desired length? Drill small holes in a wooden board, glue the dowels into those holes, and....there you have it. This could then be mounted to the side using an "L" bracket. What do you think?
