Darn it, I had a broken rotary winder tonight. You needed a long bobbin. Here I thought I was going to help. :o

Good luck!

It sounds like you (and Joe) have found the problem. There's probably just a lot of gunk in there that will come out with persuasion, and your bobbin winder will probably work perfectly then.

After soaking overnight, it really made no difference ...the interior spring isn't working and I was unable to dismantle it after several tries even with hubby's help....he came up with a "make-do fix" and I can at least wind the bobbins, not pretty though.

No help from me, but that is a pretty machine. I so enjoy treadling...I never thought I would when I bought my first one, but after using one exclusively for 3 yrs, I still feel drawn to it even w/the electric sitting right next to it.

I've got one- it all seems to be functioning, however it's a bit rusty- can send it to you on the same deal as the last package :). It's coming off a "godzilla" reconditioned 27 that I got as a package deal with two other machines - only one of which I actually wanted (my Davis VF).

if you are interested, send me a PM. - And let me know if you want any other parts of this one for yours

Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com has lots of vintage machines she might be able to help you out.

I also have one for a low mount machine. I don't think it's rusty, but it would be coming out of Canada, so a cruddy shipping cost.

Thank you all, I think I have one coming (ebay) and if works I'll be in business. Hate not to have parts on the machine that aren't cosmetically right.

Thanks all for your help, I did receive a replacement from ebay and it works great. The spring inside the winder is "really" strong, and I look forward to learning about the "treadleing" part now that everything works. Now I just have to get my feet, head, and hands to work together. Bobbins are winding great too.

now you can play and try to take the old one apart!!!!
