Auction ~ $7.50

Found this as well, although it did cost me $7.50. Just couldn't see them getting thrown away. The grandaughter at the auction said this one was the first year that Mercury made an electric machine. Her grandma had a new cord put on and was using it recently.

Road trip anyone~You are welcome to it :)

That's a nice looking machine. I can see why you couldn't pass it up.

Teacup 04-28-2013 03:49 AM

Wow, this is really nice. You ought to take it for a spin...might find out you really like it! Bet is does a great straight stitch.

debbiesue11 04-28-2013 04:35 AM

Beautiful machine. I love it!

Beautiful machine, wish I was closer!

Very nice! That one I'd keep. Might put a new belt on it though, the one there is all used up.

Nonda -

I'd wager that if you spend a bit of time with this machine you will not want to give it up. They are reliable and make great stitches. Perfect for quilting. See how clean it is? And the face plates are beautiful. You won't find a prettier black machine. Everyone needs a backup machine, right?

Although I have sworn off any more vintage machines for a while (unless I win the lottery) I would pay $7.50 for that one in an instant and not even feel guilty.

tenngal 04-28-2013 02:33 PM

Oh my !!! Very pretty!

caroloto 04-28-2013 06:49 PM

Wow I love it!

Vridar 04-29-2013 04:53 AM

New here. You live anywhere near NW Mo?😉

tessagin 04-29-2013 06:06 AM

For $7.50? if nothing else I would've gotten it just for display purposes even if it didn't work.

Miss Nonda:

First of all, let me say hello to everyone as I'm new to the board. I've been reading the Quilting Board for quite some time now, working up the courage to jump off and make that first quilt. I did stick my toe in the water with a raggy quilt for a friend's grandson, and now I'm ready to tackle one for my daughter. I used to skip the Vintage Machine section (I know... shame on me!), but then I started reading it and now want a vintage machine! My mom has a Bruce automatic ?? treadle that I want to get redone, but that is another post.
My long way around to say that I noticed you live in central OK. I live about an hour NW of Tulsa. If no one else takes you up on your offer, I'd be willing to come get them. I've been looking at vintage machines and the prices are CRAZY:mad:. I looked at one yesterday in front of an antique store in Collinsville that was a Singer 31-15 (might be backwards on that. I've slept since then.) that looked like it had been spray painted, no decals, and in a treadle cabinet in really poor shape.. didn't even have the drawers! The electric cord was cut and only had the foot that was on the machine. They wanted $250 for it. It would be worth my gas, time, and whatever you wanted for them to get your machines versus buying one off CL or from a store. I'm not a big fan of going to yard sales, but I may have to start.....

I wish i lived closer i would buy it from you.

Newbie Quilter~

If you would like to make that trip, I would be glad for you to have them! I just don't have room for them, but couldn't stand to see them being thrown away! Which direction would you be coming? Down the turnpike or I-35? I will meet you somewhere :)

You rock!!
If you are close to OKC, the turnpike is closer for me. If it is OK, I'll PM you later for directions and date. Would this weekend be OK?.... best get back to work!

nonda 04-29-2013 02:28 PM

That would be fine! 😄

SteveH 04-29-2013 02:30 PM

this is one of the reasons i LOVE this board....

willis.debra 04-29-2013 11:56 PM

So happy you saved them and that you got a taker on your offer. I love my White Rotary. They are workhorses.

Wanabee Quiltin 04-30-2013 01:09 PM

Wow, I love this pretty little thing.

MamaBear61 04-30-2013 01:21 PM

The members of this board are the best. So glad this pretty machine was selvaged from a near trash can death and that another quilter has just joined those of us who love the oldies but goodies.

solstice3 04-30-2013 04:11 PM

very nice find

G-G 04-30-2013 04:57 PM
