Belt Pliers
1 Attachment(s)
I've been watching for a pair of these for a long time that were in good condition. Snagged these off ebay lat week - they arrived today. Singer Brand - made in England, not terribly vintage I don't think. Now I can put that new belt on my IF treadle.

Nice! I wouldn't mind a pair of those!

Considering the number of treadles I've got I could use a set too.

So you are the one who got those!!! hehehe I too want a set but have not been lucky enough to win them. Last time I put on a belt, I stabbed myself in the meaty part of my hand with the ice pick. Not going to do it that way again.

Do they work like hog-ring pliers? A good pair would run about $25. I bought mine when they were 1/3 of todays prices.

1. Cut the leather (you can see the blade on the back where it would cut the belt as it lays in the center grove) 2. Put a hole in the newly cut end of the belt for the staple (hole punch on the innermost grove) 3. Close the staple through the hole once the belt is fitted on the treadle. I think they're pretty cool and am looking forward to using them. |
Way more intricate than hog-ring pliers. Thanks for the detailed instructions on use.

I heard somebody say that they sewed the belt with dental floss instead of the staple. Anyone here done that?
