A Black Beauty without a name.
 

If anyone has an idea of who made this machine, please share. It have no name as far as I can see. There is only a serial number. It looks like a Singer, but....

Does it say "made in Japan" on it?

I believe it is a Japanese clone of the Singer model 15. There are tons of them out there and most are really good machines.. Yours is so pretty with that scrolly face plate, and it looks to be in great shape.

Yes, that appears to be a 15 clone. Sometimes these Japanese clones will have a JA and/or JC with a number after the JA/JC. I have a 15 clone, that the "made in Japan" was on the back pillar and I did not see it until I took the motor off.

ETA - a manual can be found at http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...ion-manual.pdf It threads a little differently than the 15-90 & 15-91.
