would never wind a bobbin for any other machine on my 301A ( have a SideWinder for misc. bobbin winding)

Well, with this machine as with many machines I bring home-no bobbins came with it. The bobbins I tried were first an original Singer class 15 bobbin and then a plastic bobbin from Sew Classic that is recommended for use with Singer 15's. The plastic ones were a big help to see where the "foot" was rubbing because it left scratches on the plastic where it did so.

A combination of a bit of tweaking with the wrench and a tiny bit of sanding the foot in one spot seems to have done the trick. In the long run if I have trouble I'll look for a replacement part.

I think the sidewinder is a good option for winding for many people but the fun for me (and sometimes frustration) is to get each machine fully functioning properly. :D

Got my 301A in 1956. That's 58 years ago. Still love it.
