Boss for Singer motor mount or hand crank pics

Since we sometimes get questions about adding hand cranks to Singers. I thought I'd share a few pics. If one wants to do this, the VSM must have a mounting boss. Some 66s, newer machines and all featherweights do not have this. It would be major work to convert them to HC. These shots are from a dirty 99, partially stripped and will show the boss and pieces unencumbered by electrics. hand wheel or motor. The hand wheel would have to be replaced before the hand crank would be installed. One screw fits this hole. It is also this screw which lets you adjust belt tension if you are using a motor. Old news for many of you, others may find it helpful. |
if your machine does not have a boss, it can use one of these.

Steve, that is cool. Is that one of those weird singer screws for which there is no tap made? Or is it a normal screw?
