Bringing life to our treadle
 

Trying to teach my daughter the disappearing art of the treadle. There is not any rust, the machine glides wonderfully however it's missing a few parts and after months of searching, I can not find out the make or model in order to find a foot, bobbin or shuttle. Also trying to figure how to post pictures. Oh, technology. I have not found any numbers. Most identifiable items I've found so far is the cross badge, the cabinet and treadle iron however I do not know if those are the original to the machine

Granted a lot of things could have been changed on this machine over the years. The machine doesn't match yours but the front inspection plate badge appears to match http://needlebar.org/cm/displayimage..._display_media I have misplaced my 1906 reprinted Sears catalog to see if I see a similar Minnesota machine. Minnesota was a badge name used by Sears. From my research there were many actual manufacturers that used Minnesota.

Fyi the slide that is missing on the Goodrich that Mickey2 posted is often where the serial # was posted. Easy palce to stamp it, but they do get lost. Also on the smae machine the leaft tension bar accross the top should be twisted till is rests on all three pegs, and the bobbin winder needs to be swiveled so that the dive wheel on it would like up with the belt that doesn't exist.

I feel like I have seen that design on the access plate over the stitch length lever before. But I am not at all certain.

Congrats on the ID #. Your feed dog mechanism looks good too. So lucky.

Would your foot clamp from the side or the back?

I know I have seen that cross too leon, these machines turn up now and then here on QB and VS, it's the same every time before we manage to track down models and makers. There should be at least a couple of threads on it here.

I think the part is original Nmaree, it's not entirely uncomon to have one piece more or less untouched by grime and rust. If you are lucky, the brownish discoloration turns out to be oil and grime. It darkens like that with age and it me it looks exactly like that, and probably why the one part has stayed clean longer.

Looks like a National or inspired by National which uses a National shuttle (short), National bobbins, and 20x1 needles. I'd deal with someone that accepts returns just in case.

Foley & Williams is very, very similar to National, so they get hard to tell apart.

I've got two F&W and several Nationals. Like others have said, they take the same shuttle and most attachments. I'll take a couple of pictures after work. I can't find any one my photobucket page right now.

I found one. I also have a New Goodrich which I beleive is a newer model than this one.
