Broken Morse 2500

This is the first time I've bought an antique sewing machine, but I found this one for $2 since the store didn't know if it worked or not. When I tested it out, the motor would run, but it only brought the needle up before it stoped moving although the motor kept trying. I'm not sure what's broken in it, so any advice as to what is causing it would be appreciated, thanks!

Will the needle make a full rotation (go all the way up and then all the way down) when you turn the handwheel?

No, it's only making a half rotation right now

Try easy first. Have you tightened the clutch disc against the balance ( hand) wheel? Welcome aboard.

Also is the belt spinning the hand wheel, but not the machine innards? Nice price.

Ignore under the wheels. Check to see if the chrome wheel in this pic is tight against the outer wheel. turn it clockwise while holding the outer wheel to snug it.

And look for a piece of a broken needle down in the bobbin area.

Unlike in that photo, mine only has one belt connecting the motor and hand wheel. The clutch disc was tightened when I first tested it out. I'm not sure where to find the chrome wheel though
Edit: Just got the hand wheel to do a full rotation. It sticks a bit but it moves now. Tried with the foot pedal again and it just stops at the same place the hand wheel was sticking at

yea, That's why I said ignore under the wheel. Few machines have a 2 belt drive.

Don't try electricity until you can get it to go through the sticking place. Have you taken the top off and oiled everything that moves...or should? have you cleaned and oiled in the bobbin area? Thread nests?

not yet, i'll do that next
