Bubble on bed of FW
I have owned my FW for years but don't use it very often. I finally got the smell out of it last year and put it away. I took it out last week and there is a bubble on the bed of the machine where it looks like the paint has bubbled up. It has never been repainted and I am afraid if I touch it the paint will flake off. How did this happen?

Was it in a climate controlled area?

Don't know how it happened but don't touch it until you know what I do to fix it. I wonder if a syringe with a little glue might be the way to stick down the bubble? I am sure one of the experts on QB might have a better solution.

Can you post a picture of the bubble? I may be wrong but it is possible that some corrosion caused the bubble.

I have a small (smaller than a dime) bubble on the bed of my FW too. It was like that when I purchased it (it came from Arkansas) so am not sure what caused it. Will be watching this post for a solution.

Featherweights are made of aluminum. A break in the clear coat and paint will allow moisture to get in. Moisture will attack the aluminum resulting in 'aluminum rot'. It does spread. Usual treatment is to clean the metal down until it's bare and has clear margins then protect with new primer and paint. This usually means that you have to make the area that your repairing larger than the original damage.
