Bucket list - Wheeler Wilson No. 8
4 Attachment(s)
Well, I knocked another one off my bucket list with this stupendous find - an early Wheeler & Wilson No. 8 handcrank. One glass foot, one needle, one bobbin so all components are there.
I am struggling to get it to stitch. The upper thread breaks after an inch, and the tension for both seems to be too tight. I can see the bobbin thread on top, and the top thread shows underneath. Vexations. |
That is so cool! Congratulations on your great find.

Congrats! That is a great looking 8! Miller is THE expert on W&W. He is on QB and I joined his group at groups. io when I got my 8 treadle: https://groups.io/g/Wheeler_and_Wilson-Sewing-Machines

Congrats on your fun find! :)

Beautiful, It should go well with your others. And you get a challenge with it.. I know you'll figure it out.
|
Awesome! W&W #8's are right near the top of my favorites list. Cleaning every portion of the thread path is critical with #8's. Do not forget the inside of the bobbin cover, commonly forgotten and commonly dirty.
Do you have a manual? if not there is one on my forum. |
Steve, I don't see the 8. Am I overlooking it? I also need one.
|
I couldn't find the manual for the #8 over there and referred to it when I was working on my Junker & Ruh. It may have been in a post? that was deleted? but I did find one at http://ismacs.net/wheelerandwilson/m...r-8-manual.pdf

Well then, I am sorry for the wild goose chase! It is there now.
NOTE: I just followed the ISMACS link and it is the same scan! |
Congrats!
