Cheryl,

I have made button holes in scrap denim testing mine. I see no reason you can do it for real. :)

What a fun collection! These old buttonholers make much better buttonholes than the newer built ins, or those pain I the neck 4 step buttonholes.

I make buttonholes for real in all of my bags and those are often denim or upholstery fabric. My old Singer buttonholer handles it all and I get the long wide perfect buttonholes I need.

Cheryl, yes. If you have the keyhole cam for your buttonholer, it will make a beautiful keyhole buttonhole! :)

Congrats on your collection.

Can't tell you the last time I used one- probably in 8th grade about 1968! Still- I have several, and am thinking about using them to make pillow covers.

I didn't even know they existed....and frankly (she admits with a very red face) I only do zips or snaps....I find making buttonholes quite difficult. Maybe I should get one of these.

earthwalker, YES!! You should! One step easy! You choose a cam and put it in the buttonholer, you attach the buttonholer to the machine, cover or drop the feed dogs, when you know where you want the buttonhole, you simply place the fabric, drop the lever, and "hit the gas"! The buttonhole is done for you. Simple as that!

If you check your instruction manual, I think you will find instructions for making any size buttonhole with your new machine. I have Janome 9500 and it will make any size--if I follow the instructions. Old attachments do make prettier buttonholes!
