Can anyone tell me about this machine - value perhaps?
 

A gentleman I know just purchased two delinquent storage units and this piece was one of the treasures inside of the unit. He got many, many good things. He has no idea what he has. I told him hold on to it at least until I could run it past you guys who are super learned on this kind of thing. I am familiar with my featherweights but not much more. I know it will be for sale, but I know we all want him to get a fair price. Can you help me help him?

It's a red head (or red eye) model 66. A very common Singer machine in a plain common cabinet. In my area on a very good day someone could maybe get $100 for it if it has lots of fiddly bits and a manual in the drawers.

You can ask more but it depends on how long you want to wait to sell it. I've seen them really just sit when over priced.

A lot depends on the area/ location he resides. If it were me I'd list at $200 will negotiate but also depends on condition and with cabinet and machine and if it still works. I would certainly do a test run. He needs to check the rest of his storage and see what else maybe connected parts to the machine; attachments etc. More photos and how well maintained and clean.

If you live near an Amish community they are always looking for good treadle machines. In fact some people that travel to underdeveloped countries will send the overseas. I do not know of any here in Texas, but we had a place in Missouri that would ship them along with wheel chairs etc.

In much of the US this is a very common machine, in a plain cabinet (they often have carved drawer fronts and sides). The machine decals appear to be in very good condition, but I think I see some water damage to the back right section of the cabinet top. If there is more damage on the top leaf, it would negatively impact the value.

Price varies a lot by region. I have heard that antique machines are more expensive in Texas than some states, so it might be worth up to $200... it really depends on the buyer. Where I live it would probably sell well if listed for $100-150, and sit unsold for quite a while at $200.
