Can someone identify this machine?
 

Hello all. I want to know if someone recognizes this machine. I can't make out the model number in the picture, so I thought maybe someone has this machine and knows what model it is. Also in the 3rd pic, you can see it appears a belt is broken. Would it be difficult to locate this part?

The machine is being sold local to me and I just wanted to get an idea on what I would be working with before taking a drive to see it.

Under the stitch length adjusting lever, there is a small badge. Just check what number it has and you should have your answer.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, but as stated in the post, I can't make out the model number in the picture. This machine is being sold local to me and I have not seen it in person yet. The owner posted pictures and I emailed him for the model number, but have not received a reply yet, so I was asking here to see if anyone recognizes this model from the pictures.

I think it's a 318, although the "typewriter keys" on top by the handwheel are sticking up at a weird angle. It uses a class 206 needle instead of the typical class 15. I don't know how hard it would be to replace that belt, but I would probably shy away from it because of that and the weird needle. It is a very cool machine, though. I've always wanted to play with one of these.

Looks like it sais "319W" from the first picture. Here is a link to another machine; this model came in black, beige and pale green. It needs a new timing belt and a bit of sorting out. The timing belt can be a bit expensive, some love this model others have a few complaints. I think there is a replacement bobbin case that allow you to use regular 130 needles, but some insist it needs the original 206 needles to stitch perfectly. The info and feedback on this model are a bit conflicting, but it looks like some have managed to sort out any issues they found with it.

I agree it looks like a 319. The broken belt is a timing belt - it looks like they run about $50 to buy. Plus you would have to know how to retime the machine after replacing it. My best advice is to research about how to replace a timing belt for singer 306/319 machines and see if that is something you are interested doing because that would ibe the first step in getting that machine to sew again. Thank you all for your help. It is in a fact a 319w. Called around to a few repair shops and they are talking 250+ parts for repair. That is more than I want to sink into it so I think I am going to pass on this one. Thank you all again for your help.

Machines like this turn up now and then, near me not very often at all. Usually they are in good enough condition for a DIY clean up, repair and it's up and running again. The tricky thing with these can be timing. Just a basic service today is much more than many are willing to spend on a new sewing machine, which is totally wrong thinking if you want a good capable machine.

Kat, I owe you an apology. Obviously, I only read the first line before I posted my 2 cents worth... and it wasn't worth that! ha ha. I must remember to read the whole thing first before jumping in. Glad others here were able to give you the correct help!
