Can someone tell me about this machine??
7 Attachment(s)
It followed me home yesterday along with a Singer 66. I got them both for $40. It came in a DIY barn wood stand which they were using as decoration. I did find a serial number but it is 7 digits and when I went to look it up I could not find it. It has a potted motor, but I am stomped on how the motor is powered. Just thought I would put it out here to see if anyone knows which machine this is. (Pic Heavy)

This is quite a puzzle. I wa at first going to say 201 and let it be. but then I saw the stitch length knob on the deck. Hmmm

Close leon you are off a couple of lines http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...l-numbers.html
It is a 101. I'm not sure if ISMACS or Singer has a manual. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
It's an odd bird. It looks like a 66. I didn't know they put potted motors on singer 66 machines, though. I wasn't aware they used potted motors that early either.
Someone with more experience than me will have to explain this. bkay edit: Janie was typing when I was. She definitely knows more than me. |
Great find. It's not common, but they turn up now and then here on QB. They have this fancy oil wicking system, take care and use only good sewing machine oil, nothing too fancy with teflon or spray box stuff.
The top of the bed comes off, and you might find the wiring under there. I think these usually came in cabinets, and I think most of them came with knee controller fitted in the cabinet. It should easily be fitted with a pedal though. The case is ill-fitting, I hope you find something better. It has a reputation for being faster than a 201. |
My keyboard locked up mid post. Ahhh 101 makes sense. I am thinking it has a spider oiling system. I don't have one. I am thinking those grease pots under the machine need grease not oil... but I'm am out of experince here.
Thanks Janey and others. |
The number is between 0770576 and 0775575, it is a model 101 made 4/1/1924, they made 5,000 that day.
If I find the manual I will post for you. It is electric and needs a cord. |
Thank you everyone for your help identifying the machine, and I was to find a manual for it.
Thanks again. Kat |
