Can you replace a hand crank?
I've been stalking ebay and it appears that the hand crank can be sold separately. There's a machine that appears to be in good shape but the hand crank is missing.
Can these be replaced? |
Yes, if you can find the parts. Or, yes if buy the reproduction kits as sold by Sew-Classic and others.

Yes, you can replace or add a hand crank. You might need a different wheel. Usually the spoke wheel can take a hand crank. We have several machines that ran on a belt and on one DH had to replace the wheel also in order to put it on a hand crank. Treadle machines are also good to put a hand crank on in or out of their treadle.

Almost always a machine has to have a "motor boss" to attach the hand crank to, and it has to fit the hand crank you have or buy. AFAIK, SewClassic has hand cranks to fit Singer machines and no others. What is the brand of machine you are interested in?
