Casters - ever put them on a machine?

Moving my machines around the sewing room is a pain, esp with the plastic office matts and all. While looking at the Necchi cabinet, a vision of it with casters ran through my mind. Anyone ever tried it? I'm wondering if they try to escape while you are using them...

I haven't anything on wheels. I know some treadle irons have built in casters. I have put sturdy furniture felt pads on mine, and made sure they glide over my wooden floor safely. The cabinets usually stay in their place, but get's shoved around a bit. I think someone managed to fit sugru-rubber to a set of casters on trealde irons for padding, and i have tought about trying the same on my old sewing table. It has casters on two lets, and pads on the two others.

You can get casters with locking brakes. My sewing machine table has them on it. They lock pretty good but my table does "travel" a bit at times. I don't think it has the best brakes but they sure do help.

I put casters on all my sewing cabinets, ironing tables, batting racks and my sewing chairs. I'm a mover, I continually move things from one place to another. I have a very large sewing room{30 x 40} with lots of windows and I move to different windows at different seasons.

err Mickey2 , I'm going to challenge you here. Many treadle irons have wheels , but not castors. They are set up to roll left and right. they won't turn or go forward and back. One doesn't want the entire machine pushing away from you as you treadle.

True leonf, they were fixed wheels. Felt pads work well on legs with out feet though.

My treadle has wheels but the go sideways I think more treadle bases have wheels like that.
