Chance to buy a Spartan Machine
I have a chance to buy an Spartan Sewing Machine for $55. It works good from what I am told. The pictures look good too. Are these good machines? Any help would be appreciated!!

I do not have a Spartan, But they look like beautiful machines. I love the old singers!!! I think it would probably be a good buy.

IT is the same as the Singer 99..without the light and decals. I use mine for piecing. I also free-motion quilt smaller projects by using it with a darning foot and covering the feed dogs with a piece of thin plastic. It is so simple, and easy to take care of. A great machine. It also takes any of the low bar attachments that Singer made.

I love my little Spartan (192K). Emmah is right, it is the same mechanicals as a 99. You can add a light to it if you need to. Be sure to inspect the wiring-mine was fine.

They are also a smaller version of the Singer 66 - same bobbins - slide plates interchange.

My little spartan has a light and it is smaller than a 99. I am looking to find the bottom to replace mine that got broken when it was shipped to me. I have lots of bobbins that I bought for my 15-91 and also for my featherweight. same with the needles. sews really nice. After the insurance was paid, I got mine free. shipping and handling was also reimbursed to me by the seller.
