My newest family member a Singer 99 (1954)4 got at a flea market with cabinet for $40.00. She was grubby, dusty, not treaded right, and had a broken cabinet hinge. She's now all better and sews just fine. She join her lil sis a featherweight in my new sewing den. The featherweight is Patsy (after Patsy Cline, cause she's such a good singer). The new one will be Brenda Lee (she's a good singer too)...Does anyone do any free motion quilting on the 99 and what foot do you use. I bought a cover plate for the feed dogs, but don't know if it will be successful since it seems to screw down too tight. A lot of these 99's popping up here, so let me know your sewing experiences. Today's project was to make covers for them, so I don't have to put them away.

What a beautiful machine, I am in love but I am with all of the Vintage machines especially Singers, check out Ebay for a FMG/Darning foot and just drop your stitch to 0 it will do it fine.

Very nice! Cute cover too! How does she sew? Mine still needs to be cleaned up.

I love my 99K that I got last year. She sews very straight stitches and she is so darn cute. I haven't FMQed with her, I use my 301 for that. I love both your machines. I have been on the hunt for a featherweight for about a year now. I have seen several but they are still too pricey for my budget. I hope you enjoy sewing on her.

I like those and the Singer Spartans and the Singer185s. Did you know some of them have nice 1/4" markings on the throat plate? The zz machines can't have a 1/4 marking because of the feed dogs. I think that is what is so nice about a ss machine.

She looks great! I also like the fabric you used for the cover. I think I will sew one for my machine too.

Beautiful machine, and with the cabnet! Great score! I have better luck FMQ on a machine with the vertical bobbins.
