Color Featherweights -- refurbed and painted bright colors

At the AQS Chattanooga show, there was a vendor selling machines that were (or looked like) Featherweights which were refurbed and painted in bright retro colors--red, turquoise, orange, yellow, etc. Is anyone familiar with this vendor? I picked up a business card but can't find it now, of course. Thanks in advance.

I think Bonnie Hunter has a list of dealers of antique and vintage machines and suppliers on her site at www.quiltville.blogspot.ca. Maybe look there to see if you recognize a name?

I've seen some on eBay that had silly high prices, might be the same person.

do you remember what state was listed on his card? Sounds like the one I met at another large Quilt Show abt. 4 yrs ago. The machines were beautiful. I am thinking this guy was from Texas, but not certain.

Unfortunately, I don't. I do know that I talked to a lady in the booth. I've always wanted a featherweight. I'm not a "purist", and I'd love to have a red one!

Thanks.

Me too. Red is my favorite color. I've thought about repainting mine but the purist in me knows that even with the damage to the bed from tape it's not bad enough to justify(for me anyway) painting it. I do however have a HomeMark that's so beat up it's screaming for a new dress.

I've seen lots of these on Facebook, and think they are beautiful too! The price may seem high, but when you take into account the amount of work that goes into what it takes to take them apart, clean them up, paint - add new decals & clear coat, uffda - lots of hours of work then put it back together and have it run like new. Must be a labor of love...
