Copper Colored New Home?

Check out this local CL ad. I have a sweet spot for New Home machines, but really don't know much about them. I can't say that I've seen one this color, though. Is it original?

The picture seems to have been lightened. Notice the chrome on the hand wheel is white. The machine could be shiny brown -- I don't know. Is this the machine that takes the hard-to-find needles?

Yes they came in that pretty golden color. I have some of them. The balance wheel turns away from you. They are driven by a little wheel on the balance wheel from a motor that is attached to the back of the machine. The motor can pivot but doesn't interchange with other machines. The paint does go bad if they have been stored wrong. They do take special needles. They turn very well. Some of them came with the godzilla finish. Their cabinets are usually very cool. The cord is the same as the old JC Penny cords. They take the top clamp feet. They are easy to thread once you figure it out. The bobbins are odd but common, the bobbin case is odd but common. They do make a good stitch. Even if the paint is bad, the machine might be a very nice one to take with you since it is very light weight. Some come in cases. The cases are pretty heavy but would be nice for storage. Use something else to haul it around.

I have this one in a treadle. Great machine. New Home Light Running. Model NLR. Mine was given to me because it was completely locked up when I got it and missing a bobbin and bobbin case. Once I got it cleaned up and unstuck, it works great.

That is one pretty machine. I would ask to see the underside and bobbin assembly. for some reason the cabinet looks like it has been painted. not an even grain in the finish. I was burned once on this factor so I look at it a bit closer. is it really cherry wood

The New Home NLB sewing machines take needle size CC1221 which are obsolete and hard to find. I was lucky enough to purchase mine that had two needles.

Thank you all so much for the input. I've decided to pass on it .

Would you have passed if it had been $15?
