coronet treadle
I have an opportunity to own a Coronet treadle machine with a coffin case, with key. Serial # L226807
Can anyone tell me anything about this machine??? |
Need a picture but Standard, Davis and others might have made your Coronet. Davis Model L looks similar to this: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stor...sewing-machine but the stitch length is on the pillar and the bobbin winder tire is in contact with the inside of the handwheel. This would be my best guess for the Coronet.

I have found little on the Coronet. I found one site that mentioned it's maker may be Standard, but so far no other info.
The current owner is asking $60........ I'm still hopeing to find out more about this model Thank you for the link.. I will take a look at it. |

I haven't gone to look at it yet in person.... I can see some cabinet damage on the right edge and on the left front..... |
It's a Davis Model L made in the very early 1900's and only for a few years. The original needle is obsolete but can be replaced with modern industrial. I believe Coronet was a chain of Variety Stores.

Needs a little TLC and it will be beautiful. Love the coffin top.

I have several treadles and one is a coffin top...I really do not like the coffin tops...you can not use them for a regular table or show off the machine since the top needs to go some where....I am very close to selling mine...

Very pretty. I could live with that minor cabinet damage.

$60? Great deal. I would buy it. The machine doesn't look at all abused and I'm sure it can be rehabbed too.

funny of the 15 or so treadles I own I love my coffin tops better than the others. There's something regal and elegant about them. I only have one treadle in my main house and its my oldest and first coffin top. The others are awaiting their final homes in my guest house for when the house is redone and I can officially move my studio into it and set up shop!
I'd buy that one for 60.00 in a heartbeat. I love my davis machines, and this one is particularly pretty and in excellent shape. |
That is a little to far away...LOL...

According to ISMACS there was a Coronet made by Davis that takes a 1x2 needle or Boye 10. Like Joe said obsolete needles, but you can still buy them on e-bay. There is also a Coronet machine made by Standard that takes a normal everyday 15x1 needle. Nancy |
What's not to buy? Yep, I would take her home for that price. So what if she is not in perfect condition, to me that tells a story and adds so much warmth and character. Many times I prefer that over a perfect one. Gives you one more reason to love her.
