I did a quick web search and found this page. There are a bit of info to be found on the web. For dating you need to identify model, and maybe some have a few details on serial numbers. There's a good chance of it being over 100 years old, which generally is the age where an item can be called an antique. The name was still used after 1920 so not all of them are strictly an antique yet. As I'm sure you know, vintage is a rather loose term, and I'm not sure any strict definition is set. I have seen a few magazines try to define the vintage trend in clothes and fasion, but you can largely adjust the term to suit the sitation. There are Damascus rotary models as well as long bobbin VS models.

Price and value are almost always a disappontment for the owners. Millions of machines were made 100 years ago by many companies. Most were well protected because they cost a great deal of the family income. That is why Singer became such a name selling on installmets. Singer is well known, Damascus not so much. Your location and market will vary. I've passed on many working treadle machines for $50.00. Condition and special features will change prices, too. I have one in the pipeline about to begiven to me.

Leon is right. There are lots of machines out there. Most are not very valuable. If it is in pristine condition and in working order, there might be a market for it. If someone's grandmother had one like it, or it has some special feature, it might be desirable.

If I had it, I would do a search on Ebay to see if that model has sold and for what price. Be aware that the only ebay prices that are published are the ones that are sold at auction. The "buy it now" listings are usually negotiated, but the asking price is the only price that is published, not the actual sale price.

Good luck.
