Thanks Cari, and I assume it's a warning to future buyers. I have to say, I don't admit to all the spelling errors in my post, I blame them mostly on my phone ;)

That is most likely the serial number. Unfortunately, serial numbers on Japanese machines are useless to us because there are no available records to search like there is for Singer and other manufacturers.

An interesting side note about New Process Gear is that they produce transmissions for Chrysler made automobiles and trucks. Some of which, were awful...

Yes, transmissions are a weak point in Chrysler products.

And their wiring sucks. I turned wrenches for years and was usually pretty good at finding wiring issues but Chrysler made their wiring so much more complicated than it needed to be.
