I was wondering about that. I bought a treadle about a year ago and the belt looks like a leather boot lace. My question....How do you fasten the ends together when you put the new belt on? (I'm new at this.) Thanks!

I use panty hose to replace my treadle machine belt. Cut off the body just above the crotch section and thread it on the machine, pull it tight then tie a knot. It is easy to adjust the tension if needed, just undo the knot and tighten. I do most of my sewing on my treadle machine as it is my favourite and have never needed to replace the original panty hose.

I'm having trouble picturing that.

I've heard of using pantyhose too...problem for me is that I haven't worn a dress in years, and have no pantyhose! LOL
