Yes I tried it and the bobbin will not fit the early Singer or the D9, it takes the Bagel type of bobbin. For some reason the 301 will bind in the hook assembly and the other will not. The 9W-7 the 301 bobbin will work.

According to the pictures on the website the 301 bobbin works in the 9W and the bagel works in the 9w7. Or am I confused again?

Billy, I have W&W's that look like a telegraph keys. One is from 1871, and the other 1873. I've never used them, because I read they use a curved needle, and I don't have the belts for them. Does the W&W you have use the curbved needle too?

The 301 bobbin will only work in the Singer 9W-7

No these use the 127x1 needles that are out of production and the curved needles can be made using an industrial needle (I forget which one right now) and heating it up and bending it to match your old needle.
