Do I dare?

Do I dare ask my DS to go get this? Do I dare get this period? I love the coffin box but I don't think my Minnesota B will fit in this treadle. The old White has a curved hand wheel side and looks bigger than my Minnie's rectangular 14.5" x 7" base. But $15, I could give the White machine away just to get the cabinet. What do the experts think? Can my Minnie fit comfortably in this case and work with the treadle works?

I triple-dog dare you.

For $15, I'd pick it up and figure it all out later.

yup - go get it so some re-purposer doesn't do it in

You can make it work even if you only salvage the irons. Who knows how long you'd have to wait before a Minnesota B is available in your area. Ask Joe :)

That one has been listed for a long time. I was considering it last time I was in Town, but then I lined up the Domestic coffin top instead.

You will have to do some significant modification to that cabinet to make your MN fit - it has a very different hinge type, and I personally would not do it. It's one thing to get one that your MN will just drop into.

But if you do decide to get it, I know where you can find a home for the machine. It is the same type of my New Queen so i'd keep it for parts if needed. The shuttles are rare and usually cost twice what this machine is selling for, though you can find deals if you are diligent.

If you seriously want a nice cabinet, find one for around $100 with a machine I'm interested it. I'll pay $75 for the machine, and you can have the cabinet for $25.

I saw a really nice White rotary treadle for $90 yesterday, and I had not already set up to get an even nicer one (same decal pattern) from Steve H, I'd have brought that one home and I'd be looking for someone who wanted the treadle cabinet.

I am setting up one cabinet so I can easily swap out different treadle heads. This way I can have more examples of Treadle machines in a lot less floor space. I've got three treadle bases in the shed already, one Free with a cabinet surround, a 34" older style Singer (though Joe got a few parts of this one) and a 34" new style Singer (the brown one). If someone showed up at the door, I'd help load them with a smile and wave as they headed down the road!

I'd get it but I wouldn't change a thinge. It's pretty cool as it is.
Asking us to talk you out of a machine is like asking a bar full of alcoholics to talk you out of another beer.
Here's the machine in question.

I wouldn't change it either but I sure would go get it. It would be fun to play with, too.

For $15 go for it!

Rodney is right, I'm asking the wrong bunch. I think I'll wait to go see it myself. How I'd get it into my PT Cruise with a large greyhound to share the back space, I don't know. Cathy is right, I thought I saw it listed a while ago so it may be a mess in person. I really just want a nice fit for my Minnesota B. I saw a Minnesota K -nice machine but the cabinet was in bad condition and it was in Northern WI.
