Domestic High Arm Treadle in Coffin Top cabinet. Worth it?
2 Attachment(s)
I'm going to look at this machine tomorrow, but I fear I've already fallen in love. Don't know much about domestic machines though. The lady selling it has had it for just over a decade, and never took the coffin top off. It was in a Bed and Breakfast she bought and never took a second look at it until now. She said there's a bunch of accessories and stuff in the drawers for it. She's asking 75 for it. What do y'all more knowledgeable people think? Worth it? Looks like these were made 1863-1870s. By the way she's also got a singer treadle iron stand and another iron stand she's asking 25 and 20 for, respectively. Here's her ad: http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/atq/3062756714.html. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and decide if I need to adopt her or not. :)

Thanks Jenn! I do want the W&W treadle base, I think, will pay you for it regardless. Our "quiltdoctor" (Texas Jan) has a W&W without a base, and her hubby is in the hospital with a serious illness. My way of sending flowers, I guess...I think she's close enough to pick it up when she gets some time... if not, then you'll get her "flowers"! LOL
I've sent her an email to see if this will work for her... John, I don't want it for me, but for Jan....I've got a W&W in a beautiful cabinet already, and another W&W cabinet being refinished by someone else for me. |
I'll let you know for sure when I have them in my possession and you can facilitate a meetup for us :) I hope it will cheer her up!

Neat, I've been watching the ad on that one. :) Post pics if/when you get it!

I tell ya, if I lived in Texas and seeing that star I'd be sitting on there door step at daylight ..... by night fall it would be cleaned painted stain black and the star in gold along with any lettering
you made a very good buy ,, |
I'm meeting the seller after she gets off work to go pick these up. I'm practically giddy I am so excited! I'm going to grab all three pieces so if y'all know of anyone in need of the singer stand let me know. If not I'll probably refinish it into a table.

oooh she's so pretty!!! I have her and the two stands in my carport. A good cleaning and a new belt and she'll be up and running in no time! The belt on it is probably ok for a short while but i'm gonna go ahead and replace it. Ready for pics? I'm adding them to the photo thread now!
